The author started learning English in the 1980s and chose to join the "English Class" and subscribe to the "English Learning" magazine, despite having limited English proficiency at the time. The Q&A section in the magazine has had a profound impact on the author, especially Professor Liu Chengpei's way of answering questions, which made the author realize the importance of dictionaries in English learning. After graduation, the author became an English teacher at a township high school, viewing "English Learning" as a window to understand the English world and constantly drawing knowledge and inspiration from it. In 2014, "English Learning" (Teacher's Edition) was launched, and the author believes that its purpose remains unchanged, which is to enhance the foreign language proficiency of the nation. The author participated in the discussion on "cultural awareness" in "core competencies" and emphasized the importance of cultural teaching in English education. They believe that cultural teaching should be centered on "people" and cultivate students' cross-cultural communication skills. The author expresses concern about the lack of cultural teaching in current English education, believing that this will lead to students learning English without cultural nourishment. The author looks forward to continuing to accompany "English Learning" in the future and jointly promoting the development of English education.
