Teachers need to pay attention to the role of each discourse and the coherence of unit teaching design in unit teaching. The effective preparation of unit comprehensive tasks is crucial for achieving teaching objectives. Teachers should ensure that students complete their learning progressively and continuously through discourse reading and continuous evaluation design, while helping teachers understand students' learning situations and adjust teaching in a timely manner. This article takes Unit 8 Literature, the elective compulsory textbook of English for high schools published by Beijing Normal University, as an example to explore how to implement unit sustainability evaluation and promote the achievement of teaching objectives.

Analysis of the teaching materials

This chapter provides an in-depth analysis of the unit teaching content, with a focus on "literature" and covering two major thematic contexts: "human and society" and "human and self". By reading literary works, the aim is to cultivate students' language expression comprehension and positive attitude towards life. The unit content is divided into three parts: poetry, fairy tale drama, and novel, each of which achieves teaching objectives through specific literary works. The poetry section allows students to experience the beauty of nature and human emotions by studying the works of Wordsworth and Li Bai; The fairy tale drama section guides students to contemplate life philosophy through works such as Hamlet; The novel explores human nature and the meaning of life through stories such as' The Last Leaf '. The lesson content takes "The Last Leaf" as an example, and through O. Henry's short story, showcases the truth, goodness, and beauty of human nature, as well as the sacrifice spirit of the old painter Bellman, aiming to stimulate students' imagination and literary appreciation.

Teaching objectives and unit sustainability evaluation
