The purpose of teaching evaluation was discussed, which is to detect students' academic achievement and core competency development through multiple evaluation methods, as well as to evaluate teachers' teaching effectiveness. Emphasis should be placed on teaching evaluation throughout the entire process of English teaching, including classroom, homework, unit, and mid-term and final evaluations. Teachers need to understand the role of evaluation, clarify principles, choose evaluation content and methods, and use the results to improve teaching and enhance learning effectiveness, achieving consistency in "teaching learning evaluation". Evaluation should promote the development of students' core competencies, help them experience progress and success, comprehensively understand themselves, and maintain their interest and confidence in learning. At the same time, evaluation should help teachers obtain feedback, reflect on teaching behavior, and improve their teaching level and professional abilities. Evaluation should also help schools and education departments understand the implementation of courses, improve teaching management, and enhance the quality of education. The scientific implementation of teaching evaluation should follow five principles: 1) Taking the comprehensive development of students' core competencies as the starting point and foothold, the evaluation objectives and methods should be consistent with the curriculum objectives; 2) Give full play to the role of students as the main body, guide them to participate in evaluation activities, and learn to self evaluate and evaluate each other; 3) Adopting multiple evaluation methods and means, reflecting the characteristics of multi-channel, multi perspective, multi-level, and multi way; 4) Pay attention to the sustainable development of students, evaluate them from a developmental perspective, and value their current and future development; 5) Pay attention to individual differences among students, select reasonable evaluation methods based on their characteristics, and focus on evaluating their learning, cognition, and growth processes.
